Uniform: useful or worthless
Symbol is a thing, object, sign, etc that represents a more general situation or state of affairs. From the definition of symbol I am compelled to say that uniform is a symbol of an organisation, except they don't have one. Schools, sport teams, market and trade unions, trainees and apprentice, military and paramilitary organisations, etc all have one or more uniforms with which they can be identified. These institutions or organisations respect and pride themselves in the adornment of their various uniforms and can go as far as arresting any none member wearing their uniform. In some cases it is even seen as an illegal act for an individual to adorn the uniform of an organisation that he/she is not a member. For some weeks now, our nation have been under the quagmire brought upon us by the refusal of a particular ranking officer in our national institution to appear before the senate in full uniform.
